As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
Romans 8: 14.16.17.

Children, sons and heirs of God
At our conversion we became children of God through our new birth. "As many as received him (Jesus Christ), to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, .

God has accepted us as His sons. This occurred when we were sealed with the Holy Spirit. We now belong to God, for He has adopted us. He did not receive us as servants, but as sons. Our relationship with Him is not marked by fear. We can pray to Him with confidence and, as sons, experience intimate fellowship with our heavenly Father and know His thoughts.

"And if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ." Being children and sons, we are also His heirs. His inheritance is creation in its entirety. God will give everything to the prime heir, Jesus Christ, who will not come into it alone, but together with us, His joint heirs. With Him we shall reign over creation.
