How Jesus Christ changed my life (1)

Return, says the LORD, I will not cause my anger to fall on you, for I am merciful.

In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord.

Jeremiah 3: 12; Psalm 77: 2.

How Jesus Christ changed my life (1)
Here is the testimony of a Christian woman:

"I grew up in a family in which there was a lot of violence. My father was an alcoholic and often beat my mother. He kept us well away from anything that had to do with God. "There is no God," he used to tell us. However, my grandmother once spoke to me about God, and it was that that kept me from suicide.

"At the age of twelve I could not bear life any more. But every time I thought about taking my life, I was reminded of God, whom I loved somehow without actually knowing Him. I was convinced that if my brutal father didn't love me and hated God, then God must be good.

"At nineteen I married, but my conflicts continued. I quarrelled constantly with my husband. We had a baby, and I thought that things would then improve. But they got worse and I was finally very depressed. I thought about God, but was hesitant about praying to Him for help.

"One day my sisters visited me with some friends, one of whom returned the next day. He had seen my medication and inquired how I was feeling. I admitted my depression. Then he started speaking about Jesus Christ and about God and His love towards me.

"That Christian showed me how God cared for me. Until then I had considered myself totally useless, thinking that nobody worried about me. But now I heard this amazing fact: God was interested in me!"

(to be concluded tomorrow)

Today‘s reading: 1 Samuel 2: 12 - 26 · Ephesians 4: 17 - 24

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
