The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death:
Romans 8: 2.

The law of sin
Maurice is holding a ball in his hand. What will happen if he lets it go? Of course, it will fall to the ground, for it is subject to the law of gravity. If he throws the ball into the air with all his might, what then? It will rise, only to fall to the ground soon afterwards. The impulse that Maurice gives it is weaker than the attraction to the earth. We are all subject to this law of physics.

We are equally subject to another law that Paul calls , we have the strength to resist the compulsion to sin.
