Hands that work

Where did this man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to him, that such mighty works are performed by his hands? Is not this the carpenter?
Mark 6: 2.3.

Hands that work
Jesus Christ the Lord went about preaching. Then He returned to His home, His own town of Nazareth, entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and taught the people. Everyone was astonished at His words and the miracles He had performed elsewhere. Yet the inhabitants of Nazareth did not believe that Jesus was the promised Messiah. So Jesus did no miracles among them apart from laying His hands on a few sick persons and healing them.

Why wouldn't they believe in the Son of God? He had grown up among them; they knew Him and His family well; He was one of them. In their view He could therefore not be the Messiah. They failed to understand that the Redeemer became true Man and came so close to us. He had become a human being in order to save us from eternal perdition through His death. He wished to help us through His own experience of circumstances of our life (cf. ).

Today‘s reading: 2 Samuel 7: 17 - 29 · 1 Samuel 3: 1 - 5

If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
