Just a flyer

O LORD, you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought afar off, you comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
Psalm 139: 1 - 3.

Just a flyer
A flyer came through the letter-box. "Something from those religious people once again," said the owner of the house as she picked it up. Then her glance fell on a verse from the Bible on the front page that suddenly made her feel uneasy. It was a saying of the Lord Jesus Christ: . Annoyed, the woman took the flyer into the living room. What made her so uneasy? She was aware that she had frequently shop-lifted in a supermarket.

Why had she done so? She wasn't poor, after all! She had succumbed to temptation time and again. Should she return everything now? "No," she thought, "the shops make enough profit."

Her husband also read the flyer. She had put it on his desk, wanting to remind him that his contacts with a certain woman who had drawn several men under her spell were by no means innocent. The man threw the flyer angrily into the waste-paper basket

The wife grew more and more uneasy, as she remembered further sins. What should she do? She took a Bible and read Matthew chapter 15. It became quite clear to her that she was a sinner and lost. She took a staunch Christian woman into her confidence and was led to Jesus Christ. How joyful she became when she received the assurance that God had forgiven all her sins!

Some time later her husband also found living faith in the Redeemer.

Today‘s reading: 2 Samuel 11: 1 - 27 · 1 Samuel 4: 13 - 18

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
