Turning the Saviour away

See that you do not refuse him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from him who speaks from heaven.
Hebrews 12: 25.

Turning the Saviour away
Someone has rung the bell at our neighbour's house. It is evening, but no-one has answered the door, although they are at home. Behind the curtains it can be seen that the light is on, and people are moving about. The person outside the front door calls something to catch their attention, but still no-one comes to open up. They clearly have no time for him. "And in any case," they probably think, "our supper is already on the table, and afterwards we are going out. Whoever is there outside will come back when we have more time."

Jesus Christ is standing outside your heart's door. He would like to enter your life. So He calls out: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me" .

Maybe in your case the Son of God has been knocking for a long time, speaking to you through the gospel and calling on you to repent and accept Him as your personal Saviour. If you open your heart to Him, believing in Him, your life will undergo a fundamental change. The Lord will take over the leadership and grant you true joy in fellowship with Him.

Think of this: if you reject Jesus Christ, you will one day be turned away yourself. For that reason you will be standing before the divine Judge to be sentenced to everlasting punishment.

Today‘s reading: 2 Kings 2: 15 - 25 · John 16: 25 - 33

(Mark 4:11)

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
