Life’s autumn

Bless the LORD, o my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth (or: old age) with good things.
Psalm 103: 2 - 5.

Life's autumn
Nobody likes growing old, yet, whether we like it or not, at some stage the autumn of our life will begin. But just as it is in nature, when the autumn brings forth beautiful colours and fruit, so can life's autumn be beautiful and enjoyable. The pre-requisite for it is that we have a personal relationship with God and sustain it . We cannot, of course, simply ignore the trials that old age brings with it, but a life of faith with God will help us to be grateful and content despite any difficulties.

Suppose, however, that you as yet have no relationship with God. Or perhaps you once believed in Him, but meanwhile your faith in God has gone by the board. What then? Whatever your present attitude is, God is waiting for you. If you turn to Him, He will bid you welcome. He wants you to become His child, for whom He can care. Moreover, He has prepared a home in heaven for you.

One requirement of fellowship with God is, however, that the problem of our sins has been settled. God took the first step for this Himself, when He sent His Son as a Man to earth. Jesus Christ came and died on the cross for all who receive Him as their personal Saviour. If you believe on Him, His sacrificial death avails to cancel your debt of guilt. God can therefore forgive you following a confession of your sins.

Today‘s reading: 2 Kings 5: 15 - 27 · John 18: 28 - 32

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
