The kingdom of God

The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, See here! or See there! For indeed the kingdom of God is within you.

He must reign.

Luke 17: 20.21; 1 Corinthians 15: 25.

The kingdom of God
Over the ages several have endeavoured to build kingdoms or empires characterised by justice and lasting peace. All their attempts ended in failure. The day will come, however, when the Son of God, Jesus Christ, will establish such a kingdom over the whole earth.

As the Creator He has the legitimate right to reign. When He came to earth, that kingdom was here, as He said, through His presence among men. But they joined forces against Him and crucified Him. Consequently, the kingdom of God today is not visible in an evident manner to all. Nevertheless it exists, comprising all who believe in Jesus Christ. We enter it by the new birth (cf. ), a mystic transformation brought about by the Spirit of God working in the heart of whoever repents and accepts grace. As the loyal subjects of an absent King at present, Christians seek to serve their Lord by sharing His rejection.

Things will not remain like that. On a date known by God alone the believers will be taken up to heaven. Then, having purified the earth by a series of terrible judgments, God will establish His kingdom publicly. The King will be recognised by all; it will be a time of unprecedented prosperity. Finally, after a thousand years, the end of the present universe and the creation of the "new heavens and a new earth" (2 Peter 3:13) will come about. Christ will "deliver the kingdom to God the Father" and God will "be all in all" (1 Corinthians 15: 24.28).

Today‘s reading: Ezekiel 13: 1 - 23 · Psalms 119: 49 - 64

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

As a bona fide member of the Kingdom of God, you must be a proof of His power to save. Matthew 1:21 says Jesus shall save His people from sin.

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
