The cross of Jesus Christ

He, bearing his cross, went out to a place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha, where they crucified him, and two others with him, one on either side, and Jesus in the centre.
John 19:17.18.

The cross of Jesus Christ
Can I accept what I cannot understand? Yes, if someone in whom I have complete confidence affirms it. Faith is precisely believing what God has said, without being based on first assumptions that can be influenced by other events, even if my intelligence or reason has difficulty in accepting them.

The act of faith that God demands of us is belief in the value of the cross. Therefore, leaving our reasoning aside, let us simply accept the message of the cross without seeking to explain it. The Bible declares that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (cf. ). Why? Because the cross proclaims God's power where human wisdom sees only helplessness and failure. It is foolishness, because it announces that God manifests Himself to mankind where He was not wanted. The preaching of the cross proclaims the opposite of what man conceives and understands of God. The cross presents an appearance of defeat, for Jesus Christ died there; it was in fact the greatest of victories, for death could not retain Him. Jesus conquered death: He rose again. His cross is the manifestation of God's power and love; it is the heart of the gospel. The Christian's assurance is founded on Christ's death on the cross.

Today‘s reading: Ezekiel 19: 1 - 14 · Psalms 120: 1 - 7

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
