In 1958 a famous Swiss dramatist wrote a play about...

It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
Hebrews 9: 27.

In 1958 a famous Swiss dramatist wrote a play about a kindly man who was terribly concerned that explosives were being piled up in a flat in his house; yet he did nothing about it. When the house went up in flames he wondered why. The play was clearly a criticism of the nonchalant or even blind attitude of many citizens during the Third Reich in Germany and of the build-up of nuclear weapons during the cold War of the 1950's, but its message could be applied to any form of carelessness. How many instances of wickedness in today's world go unpunished because they are simply ignored or covered up!

Let us be quite clear on two issues: first, God overlooks nothing, and secondly, we should not ignore the warnings given us from any source whatever concerning God's judgment after our life on earth is over. Just as citizens should live responsibly in their own lands, we should also lead our lives responsibly before God. We are responsible to Him solely for our own lives, not for the behaviour of others.

Many people rely on the fact that God is love in order to pacify their conscience and trust that at the judgment He will deal graciously with them in spite of their failings. Yet they take no action to put things in order with God before that moment comes. They ignore the fact that God is also righteous. Having carried out His judgment on sin at the cross of Calvary, where Christ died in our place, He commands all to repent and believe in his Son, Jesus Christ. The cross is where God acted in grace towards sinful man. To expect His grace while brushing aside the means to obtain it is to court peril for eternity.

Today‘s reading: Ezekiel 28: 1 - 26 · Psalms 130: 1 - 8

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
