Two aspects of the resurrection

The hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voice and come forth - those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation.
John 5: 28.29.

4. Two aspects of the resurrection
Even if the resurrection of the dead is beyond man's experience and comprehension, it is a fact. The resurrection of Jesus Christ proves it, and the Bible testifies of the resurrection as a fundamental fact of Christianity (please read 1 Corinthians 15).

Astonishingly, the Bible speaks of two distinctive resurrections. The "resurrection of life" is promised to those who through grace have received eternal life and whose sins are forgiven through Christ's work of redemption. Soon the commanding "shout" of the Lord Jesus will resound. Then death will have to yield up all who belong to Christ. Wherever they are, they will be raised in a new body, a "body of glory" to be for ever "with the Lord" .

The second resurrection will take place much later. It is called "the resurrection of condemnation". All who are summoned to that will appear before the throne of the Supreme Judge, where they will have to answer for their sins and hear their sentence (cf. Revelation 20: 12.13).

Jesus Christ said: "Most assuredly, I say to you, He who hears my voice and believes in him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life" (John 5: 24).

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
