”Jesus, have mercy on me!” (4)

Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, Be of good cheer. Rise, he is calling you. And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
Mark 10:49.50.

"Jesus, have mercy on me!" (4)
"Jesus stood still." These few words reveal the Saviour's sympathy. And it applies to everyone who realises his sinful state. The Son of God came to earth to die on the cross for sinners. This shows the greatness of His mercy. Bartimæus was important to Him, as is everyone who turns to Him in dire need.

Jesus said, "Call him!" The crowd passed His command on to the blind man: "Be of good cheer. Rise, he is calling you." Were there some among them who formerly had called for him to be silent? Or people who were annoyed that Jesus dealt with such a man? The Lord Jesus' call and invitation to follow Him must be passed on, even today. All who know that Jesus died for their sins have the duty to tell others, and bring them to Him.

Bartimæus was not intimidated by the crowd, nor too shy to come forward. He cast off his garment in his haste to get to the One who he trusted could restore his sight, the Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

It is no different today: whoever needs spiritual healing must disregard what others say, rid himself of every hindrance and come to the Saviour, who alone can help.

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
