You are well worth it!

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.

We do not present our supplications before you because of our righteous deeds, but because of your great mercies.

Titus 3:5; Daniel 9:18.

You are well worth it!
This title has been taken from an advertisement for a cosmetic product. It proved very successful and one might wonder why. Could it be that it flatters the good opinion that everyone who reads it has of himself or herself?

What are we really worth? God created every human being in His image according to His likeness (Genesis 1:26.27). That shows the importance that He attaches to us. From the top to the bottom of the social ladder every man and woman is the object of the Creator's special attention. And the fact that we have all become sinners in the wake of our first parents changes nothing in God's interest in us. As God is love, sin has not put an end to His dealings with us. On the contrary: .

We must consider this: it is not because of our merits or characteristics that we have any value for God: He loves us as we are because His nature is love. Whoever we are, He loves us. Whether our past has been an honourable life or a disaster, will not change that in the least!

Let us stop thinking about what or how little we are worth, but simply accept this remarkable gift that God is offering us in His love! Let us turn to Him to receive His forgiveness and His grace.

Today's reading: Esther 4:1-17 · Proverbs 19:15-29

It may be that Jehovah will look on mine affliction, and that Jehovah will requite me good for my being cursed this day. And David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast...More
