A slip of paper

The scripture says, Whoever believes on him will not be put to shame.
Romans 10:11.

A slip of paper
A man once said to a Christian who was doing pastoral work, "I refuse to believe in Jesus Christ, because I have been cheated in financial affairs by someone who called himself a Christian." - "Is that the only reason?" the pastor asked. "Yes!" The other retorted. - "Then I suggest that we take that down in writing." He took out his notebook and wrote: "The reason why I am not a Christian is that someone who claimed to be a Christian robbed me out of some money." He tore the page out, handed it to the man and said, "When you appear before God's judgment seat, and He asks you why you have rejected His Son, you can give Him this slip of paper." With that he left the man standing there.

The pastor had just reached home, when there was a ring at his door. The same man was standing outside with the slip of paper in his hand. "I'm bringing the paper back," he said. "It won't do as an excuse before God." Some serious talking followed, and it was not long before he was sincerely converted to God.

Now a personal question to our readers: What will be on your slip of paper? Have you been disappointed by people who call themselves Christians - your parents perhaps, or neighbours, or colleagues at work? Then don't leave things at that. Come to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and believe in Him! He will never disappoint you.

Today's reading: Jonah 3:1-10 · Proverbs 27:1-9

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
