The end of the world

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9.

The end of the world
Many scientists agree that the beginning of our universe was a kind of gigantic explosion. Others have come to the conclusion that if there was a sudden start, there will probably be a sudden end, too.

We do not need complex scientific calculations to confirm the declarations of the Creator Himself. We read in the first verse of the Bible: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). A verse near the end of the book states: "The heavens and the earth are reserved for fire. The heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up" (2 Peter 3:7.10).

In His Word God also states that this end will be preceded by the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will come for the believers: those dead, who will be resurrected, and those still alive, so as to take them to heaven to be with Him there for ever.

His coming will terminate the age of grace, this limited period of time in which everyone, including you yourself, has the chance to put things in order with God. And that coming is at hand, as events everywhere show.

Jesus tells us: "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour" (Matthew 25:13).

Today's reading: Nahum 1:1-15 · Proverbs 30:1-10

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
