David had felt God’s nearness and preservation both in...

He restores my soul.
Psalm 23:3

David had felt God's nearness and preservation both in good and bad times, especially when he was in great danger. However, his faith was not always so strong that he could endure difficulties without sensing defeat. Occasionally he became despondent when fleeing from king Saul; he did not put absolute trust in God.

David once said that he would one day suffer death at the hands of Saul, even if God had anointed him king. Discouraged, he and his 600 faithful followers fled to the Philistines, the enemies of the people of God, and there led a life of deceit and disguise.

Then the Amalekites came and devastated Ziklag, the town where David and his friends lodged. Their families and possessions were all taken away. David's followers were so embittered that they thought of stoning him.

Then David strengthened himself in his God (cf. 1 Samuel 30:6). The trouble made him realise where he could find real help. And God gave him the courage and strength to overcome the Amalekites and regain everything.

Has anyone been worn out by difficult circumstances and lost his faith? Does everything seem to be against you, as if God had forgotten you? Then do not cast away your confidence. Find strength in your God. Remember what He has done for you. Read His Word, and your soul will be restored.

Have self-willed actions caused us difficulties? Then confess it to Him. We should also confess our weak faith. Trust in God again; it is worthwhile: He will grant you new strength.

Before David could win back what had been taken, he strengthened himself in God and inquired of Him. In this the man after God's heart (cf. 1 Samuel 13:14) has left us a good example!

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE

Read:
.
The essence of the anointing of God in your life is not for show but for service. Service is a fundamental aspect of leadership. The moment you remove service from your life, there is no room for good leadership. People should see the good example you are showing and praise God for your life....More

You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain. You are the same, and your years will not fail.
