It was a shameful place where the Lord Jesus sacrificed...

When Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. Having said this, he breathed his last.
Luke 23:46.

It was a shameful place where the Lord Jesus sacrificed His life: on the cross between two criminals. People had taken Him there, yet He had gone voluntarily. They had wanted to kill Him more than once, but He had passed through their midst.

Now His hour had come. Of His own accord, He took our place in the judgment of God. He did not die like the criminals who breathed their last amid the cruel ill-treatment of the Roman soldiers. He had refused the stupefying drink offered Him, and now He yielded His life in His own power. His final cry testifies to this. He had rightly said, "No-one takes it (i.e. my life) from me, but I lay it down of myself" (John 10:18).

But that was not the only difference between His death and that of others. Apart from Him no-one was ever abandoned by God. He alone, the pure and holy One, was "made sin for us" (2 Corinthians 5:21) in the three hours of darkness. "The chastisement for our peace was upon him" (Isaiah 53:5). We cannot enter into the feelings of the dying Saviour when He cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). There the Lamb of God suffered to atone for our sins. Nothing was spared Him in judgment, until He cried out, "It is finished!"

There at the cross God's righteous demands were met. God the Father was glorified to perfection. And with what a price have we been redeemed! Let us never forget that!

Today's reading: Genesis 7:1-16 · 1 Peter 4:1-6

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
