Today's reading: Isaiah chs. 38 & 39

And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
2 Kings 5:10

The Syrian general Naaman enjoyed great fame in his land. But what use were riches and honour to a man who was incurably ill? Naaman suffered from leprosy.
Through a young slave girl from Israel he was given hint that the prophet Elisha in her country might be able to help. Naaman obtained permission from his king to undertake the journey with a large escort. Eventually, this impressive company reached the prophet's modest house. To
the annoyance of the higher officer, Elisha did not even bother to come out to him and receive him as was befitting, but simply told him through a messenger to wash seven times in the river Jordan.
That the general was angry at such disrespect and the inappropriate medical treatment of his disease is understandable. Deeply offended, he set out for home. It was only through the effectual persuasion of his advisers that he finally carried out the prophet's order and, against all expectations, was healed immediately.
What is the meaning of this story for us today? Instead of leprosy, think of your own guilt before God. Are you aware of it, and do you want the solution to the problem? Then don't hesitate any longer: accept God's offer of salvation by putting your faith in Jesus Christ and the fact that He died in the place of sinners.
Let no one imagine that God's solution is beneath his dignity!

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More

Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 5

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read...More
