August 5, 2015 Today's reading: Isaiah 40 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. Psalm 86:11 God's Way This request that David made to his God was good and helpful for us. Moses had similarly asked, "Show me now your way," and gave this reason, "that I may know you" . The only way for him through the wilderness of Canaan was the one on which he could know God, looking on His face, as it were. Taking God's way, we learn to know Him. Going our own way will never succeed, for self-will is an obstruction for God. But if a believer looks to God trusting in His direction, he will come to know Him better every step of the way. The Psalmist's wish to discover the LORD's way was to result in walking in His truth. That was a different thought from Moses'. The Word of God is our guiding star on the pathway of faith as Psalm 119:105 states: "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path." If the content and power of this verse characterises our life, we shall walk in God's truth. Indeed, if we follow His gracious leading, we can go ahead confidently and attain our destination without harm. We shall also be enriched by the journey, having learned to know God in all His goodness and wisdom. "Help me to walk aright, more by faith, less by sight; lead me with heavenly light: teach me Thy way! until the race is run, until the journey's done, until the crown is won, teach me thy way!" |

What shall the baptized for the dead do if those that are baptized rise not at all? Why also are they baptized for them? Open Heavens for Friday, April 17, 2015 by Pastor E.A Adeboye KEEP YOURSELF HUMBLE Several years ago, I was on a visit to a parish of our church in Ilesha (a town in southwest Nigeria) on the same day that a Bible Study was to take place. Because I wanted to be blessed, I sat down in the congregation waiting for the Bible study teacher to commence the lesson for the day. However, an overzealous...More |
