August 8, 2015 Today's reading: Isaiah ch. 43 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:5 A God-fearing man was once passing the place where a simple fisherman was preaching the good news of the love of God. The preacher placed great emphasis on the fact that God's grace is available for the wicked and the bad, and that Jesus Christ died so that these could be saved. After the preaching the man went up to the fisherman and said, "Do you realise what you have just said? Every Sunday school child can tell you that it is good people who go to heaven. The wicked and the bad go to an entirely different place." Astonished, the fisherman asked, "Would you say that sinners are bad?" - "Yes," was his answer. - "And are the godless also bad people?" - "Of course they are." Thereupon the fisherman took out his Bible and read out two verses: "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" and "When we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:8 & 6). Then he asked, "What else did I say except that Christ died for sinners and the ungodly, that is, for those bad people, so that they might be saved?" The man had listened to this somewhat perplexed. Then he had to hear today's verse above. That was too much for him. That good works were not the pre-requisite for eternal salvation would not make sense to him. He murmured some excuse and made off. |

He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More |
Open Heavens for Tuesday, January 21, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye A LESSON FROM GOLIATH At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More |

Luke 9:62 CEV If you're wise, you'll do four things: (1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More |
