The privilege and hope of God’s children

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when he is revealed, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2.

The privilege and hope of God's children
Believers' greatest hope might be fulfilled at any moment. Jesus Christ will come again and take His own to be with Him in His Father's house. Shortly before His return to heaven He assured His disciples: "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3). There in the Father's house, where He is at home, is our home, too. He will come Himself to take us there, and once there we shall stay there for ever (cf. 1 Thessalonians 4:18). Indescribable joy is concealed in these words. And, best of all, we shall see Him as He is. Alongside the revelation of the heavenly panorama, where all our spiritual blessings are to be found, the climax will be beholding His glory.

We are even now children of God in a wonderful, eternal relationship. The world cannot imagine this. The world does not know us, because it did not know Him (1 John 3:1). It fails to understand our way of thinking and our manner of life, both so different from theirs. And the children of this world have no conception of what awaits God's children. It has not yet been revealed.

Only when Christ appears with us in glory on this earth, will the world recognise what God has made of us through His Son's redemptive work, and what relationship we now stand in. We, however, now know for certain that we shall see the One who has loved us greatly, and He will never be lost from our view.

Today's reading: Genesis 48:8-22 · Psalms 35:1-10

And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their...More

JESUS IN YOUR BOAT

No doubt, life in a sense is like the sea. A characteristic of the sea is that storms of varying degrees arise, putting the lives of those sailing on it in jeopardy of being drowned. In Jesus' Name, the storms of life will not be able to drown you, your family and your business. While literal storms are natural...More
