Come up here!

Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord. Then I will declare to them, I never knew you.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.

Matthew 7:21-23; Acts 16:31.

Come up here!
On the 30th June 1859 the tightrope walker Charles Blondin crossed the Niagara Falls on a rope 330 metres long before thousands of enthusiastic spectators. He repeated the exploit seventeen times with additional variations: on stilts, pushing a wheelbarrow, with a sack on his shoulders, making perilous jumps etc. It is said that he asked one spectator: "Do you believe I could cross with a man on my back?" The man was sure that he could. "Well, come up here!" replied Blondin. The man refused point-blank. He believed in the tightrope walker's ability, but his confidence was theoretical; he didn't want to be involved personally. He wouldn't entrust his life to Blondin.

That man reminds us of people who are enthusiastic when we speak to them about Jesus Christ. They call Him the Saviour of the world and show great respect for Him. But when it is a question of entrusting Him with their life, they shrink back.

It is one thing to believe that Jesus Christ is the Saviour who died for the sins of the world. It is another thing to believe it for yourself and settle the matter of your own sins and salvation through Him. If your faith is merely theoretical, and you do not feel involved, it will not save you.

Put your trust fully in Jesus Christ. Believe that He will lead you safe and sound over the precipice of death to the other side: eternal life.

Today's reading: Daniel 2:17-30 · Psalms 38:1-11

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
