The lost child (2)

In my distress I called upon the LORD, and he heard my voice.

In the day when I cried out, you answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.

Psalm 18:6; 138:3.

The lost child (2)
The unwanted colporteur is on his way to the next village. Meanwhile he kneels down in the snow to pray urgently for the missing baby. Suddenly he hears a baby crying. The sound seems to come from a disused well. Xi is shocked to find a tiny child wrapped in a blanket but blue with cold. It is the stolen baby, a little girl. She had been thrown away, because the people in the town would buy only boys. Keeping the baby warm in his arms, the colporteur runs back to the village.

In amazement the villagers accompany the man to the hut of the relieved parents, "Who is the God you prayed to, and who answered your prayer so quickly?" the father asks.

"The God to whom I prayed came to earth 2,000 years ago as a small child. The great God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the infinite, omnipotent God, wanted to come to us to free us from the power of the devil who wants to bring us to eternal perdition. That God wants to make us happy in His presence for ever. Death is not the end of existence; there is no reincarnation on earth, only the resurrection for the life beyond. God loved us so much that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him has everlasting life."

That night the parents found faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today's reading: Job 1:1-12 · Acts 5:1-11

BE TRULY ROOTED

You can overcome the attacks of the devil if you can simply obey God's Word. Before taking on the devil, be sure of your salvation because the salvation of many today is questionable. Many are pretenders and have really never answered the altar call for salvation at any time. At the time they should be answering...More

YOUR FIRST LOVE

As a Christian, your heart ought to be aglow with genuine love for Christ, unless you are not genuinely saved as a result of having not truly repented from your sins even though you have confessed Jesus. At the new birth experience, the Holy Spirit regenerates our spirit and fills it with deep and pure love for...More

Imitation or Genuine?

"All the prophets were prophesying before them. Then Zedekiah said, 'This is what the LORD says' All the prophets were prophesying this as well." - 1 Kings 22:10-12 NASB

Zedekiah understood what it meant to be a prophet. He knew the vocabulary and how to deliver prophecies. In similar ways, others...More
