Open doors – even behind bars!

See, I have set before you an open door, and no-one can shut it.
Revelation 3:8.

Open doors - even behind bars!
All over the world God is constantly opening doors daily for people to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. A few years ago two missionaries from Africa reported how even a barred door opened:

"Alongside our work in the schools, the Lord opened a prison door here. Months previously preachers had requested that they be permitted to enter the prison to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the inmates. There was no reaction. So we occasionally went there to give the visitors waiting outside some literature for the prisoners.

One morning, we arrived there earlier than usual. Only a few visitors were waiting. Not wishing to return with the booklets, we asked the warder at the gate to admit us, because we had New Year's gifts for the prisoners. As if by a miracle, the door opened and we were able to pass through checks and locked doors without any problems.

We started distributing our booklets. When a minor tumult started, because everyone wanted a copy, the head warder of the section for young delinquents suddenly appeared and asked us to follow him. In a separate unit we met over 200 youths under 18. As there were not enough booklets for everyone, we promised to return. We paid three visits altogether."

God showed that He opens doors even for prisoners, so that they can read the good news. Now it is up to them to open the door of their heart for Jesus Christ.

Today's reading: Job 11:1-20 · Acts 8:26-40
