August 20, 2015 Today's reading: Isaiah ch. 56 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:31 At various places in my home town, wooden beams have been inscribed with information to draw attention to the significance of the forest for our life. By far the greater part of flora and fauna either lives in forestland or is dependent on it. The forest absorbs carbon dioxide and emits oxygen which we need to breathe. It is also a protection against avalanches and erosion caused by rain or wind. The forest floor stores fresh water in large quantities while the trees contribute considerably to the prevention of pollution of the air and water. In addition, the forest supplies fresh firewood as well as timber for building and furniture. Through short-sighted, egoistical interests, the forests have long been ravaged. Meanwhile, there has been a rethink: more attention is paid to preservation. Putting it simply: if forests are cleared, they need to be re-planted. These circumstances offer an interesting parallel to human life. Our Creator has made us humans wonderfully, like the forests. But it did not take long for us to become guilty by disregarding His orderly intentions, transgressing His commandments and rebelling against Him. Since then, sin and evil have been in the world. Here a rethink is also needed urgently. The harm done would separate us from God eternally. How gracious He is in offering a radical new start! He grants new, eternal life in Christ. All who receive Him will experience this truth: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation" . |

But they forget that...More |

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water" Bible in one year: Job...More |
