Christians who proclaim the message of the love of...

Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God. Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you?
Genesis 3:8.9.

Christians who proclaim the message of the love of God and offer people a Bible repeatedly notice a strange reaction: some recoil determinedly; they are extremely reluctant to accept the book.

What is the cause? Many refuse to have anything to do with religious matters. Or the Bible reminds some of churches with solemn organ music or a man in a cassock, things that they have abandoned long ago.

It is also possible that some have been put off Christian things of any kind through their parental home, or school or some other organisation; they refrain from even touching a New Testament. These are probably only some of the reasons why people see no use for a Bible.

Today's verses refer to a scene in the Garden of Eden right at the start of mankind's sad history. Adam and Eve had transgressed the one commandment that God had given them. That had altered their life for the worse. Fear of God had replaced their trust in Him. So they hid from Him.

But God does not give up at once, when someone runs away from Him. Such a thing would not comply with His character!

"Where are you?" God's call resounded throughout the Garden of Eden. "Where are you?" is also His call to everyone through His Word, the Bible. Listen and give an answer! No-one need fear God's call, since Jesus Christ came as the Saviour.

Today's reading: Isaiah 41:1-29 · Hebrews 6:10-20
