Thirsting for eternal life (2)

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

John 3:36; 1 John 5:12.

Thirsting for eternal life (2)
To adolescents life seems very long, but it seems short when one has reached the fifties. On passing seventy, one notices that our days are counted. Is it possible that there is nothing more after this life? Deep down in ourselves we sense the answer must be "No!" and the Bible confirms it (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Eternal life is granted when we believe in Jesus. It does not start with death. It is given us before death. After death it is impossible to obtain it. Eternal life continues for ever, beyond the death of our body, in the presence of the Lord whom we love and who loves us.

The Bible speaks of eternal life as a gift from God, available exclusively "in Christ Jesus our Lord". "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

Eternal life cannot be summed up as an infinite succession of years: it is independent of time and exists in, outside of and beyond time. For this reason, if we have believed in the Lord Jesus, we do not have to wait for eternal life. We have it from the moment when we put our faith in Christ. We then have it now and for ever. "This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3).

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
