Regeneration

Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Having been born again through the word of God which lives and abides for ever.

John 3:5; 1 Peter 1:23.

Regeneration
During his train journeys through France, Switzerland and Italy the evangelist Dapozzo held a minor inquiry. He asked one hundred people this question: "Are you a born again Christian?" The only people who really understand the question are those who have believed in Jesus Christ. The answers were varied and sometimes revealed indignation: "But, Sir, I play the organ in the chapel!" or "I was a choirboy." Or "I have been christened." Of the hundred asked only one gave a definite "Yes!" as his answer.

This question is in fact essential. Jesus assured a religious leader, "Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). No-one can enter into a relationship with God without having experienced the new birth. That gives us food for thought.

Being "born of water and the Spirit" means receiving new life through the Word of God (symbolised by the water) and the action of the Spirit of God which produces this miracle in us. This new life comes from God; those who receive it are then God's children (John 1:12.13). Let us not be deceived: being a choirboy or playing the organ in the chapel or attending services will save no-one. True Christianity is not something exterior; it is an internal renewal brought about by the Spirit of God in whoever believes in Jesus Christ.

How would you answer the evangelist's question?

Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 6:1-12 · Mark 6:1-6

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
