The Creator’s signature

The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork.

The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens.

Psalm 19:1; Proverbs 3:19.

The Creator's signature
An astronaut who returned from space exclaimed: "I did not meet God." A philosopher said one day, "God is dead." The scholar Einstein declared more modestly, "Through mathematics I know that God exists, but I cannot find God through mathematics." By that he meant that one must believe in a God who has revealed Himself to mankind through the harmony of all that exists.

Long before him the apostle Paul had written: "What may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:19.20). When we admire the prodigious density of the Milky Way with a telescope or the dust on a butterfly's wings with a microscope, or even the complexity of DNA, we understand that God alone is able to bring forth the mystery of life. One must really be a fool not to recognise the Creator's signature there.

Believing in God's existence, however, does not save. To be saved, one must acknowledge one's guilt, submit to God's judgment on man and believe in Jesus' atoning sacrifice. There is no other way to salvation. "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" (John 3:36).

Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 8:1-17 · Mark 6:21-29

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

As a bona fide member of the Kingdom of God, you must be a proof of His power to save. Matthew 1:21 says Jesus shall save His people from sin.

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Don't Lose Sight

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
