Don’t scorn warnings!

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

Jesus delivers us from the wrath to come.

John 3:36; 1 Thessalonians 1:10.

Don't scorn warnings!
When there is an earthquake, the first shaking is often followed by another, sometimes more violent and dangerous. The pause between the two gives one the possibility to find a safer place so as to save one's life. History, however, provides enough examples of people who despised the first warning while the moments of respite continued.

We are living today in such a kind of pause. The Second World War is not forgotten, and the future seems threatened. Troubles, disorders and terrorist attacks, like the rumbling, give us the presentiment of bad days to come. Do we heed these warnings? When catastrophes are expected, many people speak of blind fate or chance. In fact, God speaks to us seriously through these precursory signs. Terrible upheavals are due to come upon the earth. God mentions them in the Bible, too. But at the end of this book, before the description of the judgments, the Lord Jesus invites us to receive Him: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" (Revelation 3:20). He knocks at the heart's door of whoever still rejects Him and despises His warnings, whether through indifference or rebellion. Jesus wishes to grant him eternal life and peace of heart. He wants to keep all from the dreadful times that are coming. "God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us" (1 Thessalonians 5:9). Each one is free to open the door, believe in the love of Jesus and receive Him as his Saviour.

Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 10:1-20 · Mark 6:45-56

What shall the baptized for the dead do if ...

What shall the baptized for the dead do if those that are baptized rise not at all? Why also are they baptized for them?
(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More

Getting Them From Childhood To Adulthood (2)

Be clear minded and self-controlled' 1 Peter 4:7 NIV
Going from childhood to adulthood is a transition that requires a lot of wisdom and love. Your teen will feel and behave child-like sometimes, and adult-like other times. Your job is to realize that whatever their status, they will become a man (woman)...More
