Christianity, a relationship with Jesus

Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Matthew 16:24; John 17:16.

Christianity, a relationship with Jesus
Has Christianity achieved its aim, or has it failed? Two thousand years have passed since Jesus came to earth and gave His life to save human beings. The world does not seem to have improved. Social injustice, a flood of violence and immorality are the dominant characteristics of the world today. And the countries with a Christian culture are not exempt from it.

Can one therefore conclude that Christianity is a failure? No, it is not the principles of Christianity that have failed, but the Christians themselves, who were charged with bearing witness to the truth by following Jesus, the perfect Man. In everyday life Christianity has generally not believed nor lived out what the One who bears its name taught. He spoke and practised obedience to God and love of one's neighbour. However much people admire Christian morality, they do not want Jesus Christ. Yet He is the source of much more than mere morality: He brought the salvation that is freely offered to all who repent of their wrongdoings.

Christianity is not, as so many believe, a collection of ceremonies and dogmas. It is essentially the knowledge of a Person: Jesus Christ the Son of God. It is a relationship between Him and the sinful who receive Him. Christianity means living out this relationship with Christ in everyday life.

Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 12:1-14 · Mark 7:14-23

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
