The Mediator between God and men

There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all.
1 Timothy 2:5.6.

The Mediator between God and men
When the first human couple listened to Satan's voice and sinned, a cleft arose immediately between God and His creatures. It seemed to be unbridgeable. Job, that man of faith who was so severely tested, expressed this very thought, "Nor is there any mediator between us, who may lay his hand on us both" (ch. 9:33).

But we must heed the astonishing revelation given to the prophet Isaiah: "He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore his own arm brought salvation for him" (ch. 59:16). No human being could have taken on the role of intercessor and stepped into the breach. For this reason the Son of God came to earth. He became Man in order to give His life as a ransom. Scripture records that "he made himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of man. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross" (Philippians 2:7.8).

Jesus thus accomplished the great work of redemption on the cross of Calvary. Now our holy God can graciously pardon people on a just basis, for His Son met all God's demands completely.

Everyone who acknowledges his sins, confessing them before God and believing in the Lord Jesus, can know that the Saviour paid the debt of his guilt for him.

Today's reading: The Song of Solomon 2:1-17 · Mark 8:1-13

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
