Today's reading: Psalms 86 & 87

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
John 8:25

What Jesus Christ said about Himself here is worthy of consideration: it is indeed unique! It means that His words corresponded fully with His character and His essential being. Has that ever been known in world history before or since? Just think of today's politicians and their speeches. Everyone knows that they contain much eye-wash!
In his novel "The brothers Karamasov" the Russian author Dostoevsky made some remarkable statements about the Person of Jesus Christ. "Even those who have denied and attacked Christianity follow the Christian ideal in their hearts. For until now, neither their perspicacity nor the zeal of their hearts has been in a position to create a higher ideal of humanity and virtue than that which was revealed through Christ long, long ago."
Of course, everyone who loves and follows Christ rejoices over such an acknowledgement of His Person and the values He represented. But it is by no means sufficient to acknowledge merely a "Christian ideal". We must recognise in Christ, the Redeemer sent by God, the Mediator between God and men.
His mission reached its climax when, at the cross of Calvary through His suffering and death, it brought about redemption and forgiveness for sinners and made fellowship with God possible. It was at the cross that the perfection of Jesus in His obedience to God and in His love towards us was shown to be unique. He "has loved us and given himself for us" (Ephesians 5:2). None can compare with Him!

SOCIAL DEVIANTS!

A Christian can be described as a little Christ. While on earth, Christ exhibited integrity in all His utterances and actions. He said His children would do greater works. Are you born-again? Are you a true child of God? With self-discipline and appropriate preparation, you can become effective in exhibiting...More
