Getting Through Together

‘Two people are btter off than oneif onefalls, the other can reach out and help' Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT
Amy Simpson says: ‘When our children were four and six, I discovered I waspregnant. Two weeks later I miscarried, sending us on an e3motional rollwer coasterWhile I recuperated, my husband help up wonderfully, but as soon as I was physically well, the loss hit himHe was withdrawndidn't wanrt to visit familyhe wanted tyop be home,[whereas]I wanted to forgetmove onbe around people. When a couple faces something that afgfects them differently, how do you make it work? 1) Tell your spouse what you neeed. Do uyou need space? Do you want to talk? Do you want to be around people or be alone? Listen to your mate's feelings. You may both have very different needs. 2) Deal with the core issue. My husband didn't want to visit his familyand as we talked we discovered the real issue was he didn't think they would be veruy supportive-plus he didn't have energy for a 7---mile road trip! 3) Be willing to compromise. I wanted to do something fun even if it wasn't with his family. We were able to meet both of our needs by getting closer to family members closae to home. 4) Get help. Sometimes there's no way to compromise. One spouse wanrtsb to tlak and the other can't bear to bring it up. Find a counselor, or a Christian friend who can temporariliy fill the gap. Hasving others pray wityh and for you makes a huge difference. But protect the intimacy in your marriage, and don't let anything or anyone come between you and your spouse.'

GOD PROMOTES

God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
