‘Home and Away' actor Dieter Brummer found dead at 45

Dieter Brummer, who starred for years on the Australian soap opera "Home and Away," was found dead Saturday, according to authorities.

The 45-year-old actor's body was discovered in a Sydney suburb, New South Wales Police told CNN.

"We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter on Saturday morning," Brummer's family said.

"He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same," the family continued. "Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years."

The circumstances surrounding Brummer's death have not been released. Authorities told CNN they do not consider the situation to be suspicious.

The TV star's body was found when officials went to a home in the Glenhaven suburb for a welfare check.

Brummer starred as Shane Parrish on "Home and Away," appearing on more than 500 episodes as the character between 1992 and 1996.

The portrayal earned Brummer four nominations in the mid-1990s at the Logie Awards, an annual ceremony in Australia honoring achievements in television. He won the Silver Logie honor for most popular actor in both 1995 and 1996.

"Home and Away and @channel7 are deeply saddened to hear of Dieter Brummer's passing," reads a tribute shared Monday on the soap opera's Instagram page.

"Dieter was a much-loved Home and Away cast member and celebrated by Australian and international audiences for his award-winning portrayal of Shane Parrish," the post continued. "We send our sincere condolences to Dieter's family and friends during this very difficult time."

In addition to his lengthy run on "Home and Away," Brummer appeared on 26 episodes of another prominent Australian soap opera, "Neighbours," on which he played Troy Miller in 2011 and 2012.
