Erling Haaland needed support in the Manchester City attack, and on Wednesday, he got it as City defeated Borussia Dortmund 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium. Phil Foden shined, securing his first brace since January of 2025, facing Ipswich Town. Haaland wouldn't be denied a chance to score against his former team, raising his tally to 18 goals in 14 appearances, and City's defense also showed up, stopping one of the hottest scoring teams in Champions League play in Dortmund.

It was a complete performance for Pep Guardiola's men, and while they'll need to prove that this form can travel on the road, if others are scoring around Haaland, City will be tough to stop. Rayan Cherki has even been finding his footing, scoring twice and assisting three more goals in his last three appearances for the club. This is the recipe not only for City getting back to the Champions League crown but also to rise back to the top of the Premier League.

Dortmund had scored four goals in three consecutive matches and were limited to only four shots on target in their trip away from home, while City kept the pressure on with 11 shots on target, leading to four goals. A performance like this is something which could be a turning point for the squad
