AI for Humanity Conference Discusses Ways to Integrate AI into Missions, Discipleship

Colorado Christian University (CCU) in Lakewood, Colorado hosted an “AI for Humanity” conference this week with the focus on how Christians can engage with AI in mission, ethics, public policy, education, and discipleship.

Pat Gelsinger, executive chairman and head of technology at Gloo (and former Intel CEO), was a keynote speaker as he encouraged Christians to use AI proactively which he described as a “Gutenberg moment for the church”, Church Leaders reported.

AI can become “a powerful embodiment of the Christian church,” Gelsinger said, adding it entails Christians using AI “in every possible way.”

“Embrace these tools to make you better in everything you’re doing,” he stressed. “We should be using AI to drive mission.”

As one example, Gelsinger said that using AI to educate every child on the planet in their language can potentially reduce or even eliminate poverty.

“The heart of our Lord Jesus Christ would be honored if the church could do that,” he said.

Gloo AI President Steele Billings and Gloo Developers Vice President Nick Skytland shared on the issues of AI, how they maintain the company’s calling “make AI faithful” and Christians can use AI to glorify God.

They noted the negative consequences from social media’s networks including information overload, addiction, the sexualization of children, doom scrolling, fake news, polarization, and the breakdown of democracy.

Billings and Skyland also warned AI could exacerbate problems like synthetic relationships, “automated fake religion,” cyberweapons, and erosion of trust and reality. Additionally, there is the danger of AI hallucinations that misquote Scripture or flatten theology with “vague moral advice, ignoring the depth of doctrine built over centuries.” On the other hand, “values-aligned AI” can cultivate people’s faith, work, relationships, communities, and trust.

The conference was a collaboration of CCU, The Christian Post, and Gloo AI. Meanwhile, Gloo hosted its own conference titled “Hackathon 2025” taking place from October 8–10 in Boulder, Colorado, where participants will collaborate to build AI solutions that serve the Church and the faith community at large.
