Good Bondservants

Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.
Ephesians 6:5–7

Good Bondservants
In this day and age for many of us the concept of masters and slaves is not our daily experience; however, the instructions given for that relationship are applicable to employees with their employers. The instructions for this relationship focus on our relationship with the Lord, indicating that our service is directly for Him. This is a heart matter, which is of most importance. Our service in all spheres has to do with the Lord.

There are many qualities that we in our service should have and display, regardless of the attitude and behavior of the ones we serve: respect, honor, obedience, sincerity, honesty, humility, faithfulness, goodness, and godliness. May we put these instructions into practice so that our lives are a good testimony to those for whom we work, so that the Lord gets the honor.

But this not only applies to the relationship between employees and employers, but also as we serve our fellow believers, including our spouses. The Lord showed the disciples by example that they needed to serve one another in humility, love, and care when He washed their feet (Jn. 13:4–11). He told them that whoever wanted to be the greatest had to be the servant of all.

The Lord, the perfect Servant, showed His perfect servanthood by perfectly and completely doing the will of Him who sent Him. Since we are not our own but rather bought with a price, His precious blood, we therefore are servants or slaves to Him: “Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him” (2 Cor. 5:9).

Another thing that can divert your attention is opening your mouth prematurely to reveal your secret to sympathetic friends'. Never share a testimony until it is...More
