Knowing God

All shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
Hebrews 8:11

Knowing God
The thought of understanding something simply means to have a correct insight into the nature of the object and to conform oneself to the nature of that object. The thought of knowing God means to have an intimate, personal knowledge of Him. It is not something we can put into a test tube; it is something that is to be lived out in us daily and it has an effect in our lives!

First, knowing God gives me a desire to be like Him. The French philosopher Pascal once said, "Man's greatest needs are security and significance." He also said, "There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ." You cannot find these things outside of a personal relationship with Christ!

Second, knowing God reveals the truth about myself. The Word of God is a mirror, and as I look into it, I see myself the way God sees me! But as I focus away from myself and onto the Lord as He is revealed in the Scriptures, I see more clearly who He is and I see myself in that light. This is what happened to Isaiah in chapter 6 of his book. Before Isaiah could make his God known, he had to see His holiness and learn how unfit he himself was for the presence of his God!

Third, knowing God also helps me to interpret my world. We see this displayed in the life of Daniel. Because Daniel knew His God, he could explain prophetic world events (ch. 2). We see this again in chapter 6: Daniel's enemies knew they would not be able to find fault with Daniel except in connection with His relationship with his God. But Daniel knew his God and depended on Him. Daniel feared the Lord and not men. May we be more like Daniel!

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
