Accepting Jesus Christ

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
John 1:12

Accepting Jesus Christ
A Christian woman rings her neighbour’s doorbell, wanting to give her a Scripture calendar for the New Year. They strike up a conversation and the neighbour says, “Recently an old acquaintance called me and urged me to accept Jesus Christ. What did she mean? How do I do that?”

Now the believing woman has an opportunity to share with her neighbour about the Lord Jesus. However she finds it challenging to explain her personal faith in the Saviour in the simplest way possible.

What does the Bible mean when it says in John 1:12 that individuals have received Jesus Christ, the Son of God? They have opened their hearts to Him and have asked Him to enter their lives. They have recognised that the Son of God knows everything about them – even the dark sides of their past. At the same time, they have believed that He can give them a new life. They have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour who solves the problem of their guilt before God and brings them into a right relationship with Him.

How can we do this today? After all, Jesus Christ no longer lives on earth. After His death on the cross, which was necessary to save sinful people, He rose from the dead and returned to heaven. Since then, everyone can pray to Him personally and accept Him in faith as their Saviour and Lord.

Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 6:1-12 · Mark 6:1-6

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
