Everlasting life

He who believes in me has everlasting life.
John 6:47.

Everlasting life
During the age of grace whoever puts his faith in the Son of God, who became Man and died on the cross, receives eternal life. This is one of the greatest gifts that God could give us Christians who truly believe. But believing in this sense is not merely accepting the fact of Christ's existence but trusting fully in His work of redemption.

Everlasting life is more that an existence without end, for all have that in any case, since they have an immortal soul. If they die unbelieving and unreconciled with God, they will suffer torment in hell. That is a serious matter.

The blessing of eternal life even exceeds the fact that believers no longer come into judgment but are saved for time and eternity. Although it is infinite grace in itself that we as the redeemed have been accepted by God for eternity, He has granted us far more in His Son Jesus Christ.

In John 17:3 the Lord Jesus describes the central characteristic of eternal life: "This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." As such who possess this life, we know God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ through our relationship with them.

The consequence of this knowledge is that we can have living fellowship with the Father and the Son, which gives us abundant joy (cf. 1 John 1:3.4). Everlasting life is therefore not only endless life, but life of the best quality.

Today's reading: Jeremiah 4:1-31 · Luke 20:9-19

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
