What a wonderful release it was that Jesus brought about...

That through death he (Jesus) might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Hebrews 2:14.15.

What a wonderful release it was that Jesus brought about: freedom from the devil's bondage!

You have surely heard of David and Goliath. The young shepherd, David, brought down the heavily armed warrior Goliath with a single stone from his sling, then killed him with the giant's own sword. The people rejoiced that they had been freed from subservience under the Philistines.

Today the fear of death has befallen the entire human race. It is the source of numerous other fears and worries; so people put any thoughts of death to the back of their minds.

Today's verse shows that the devil, God's adversary, exploits the fear of death as a means of enslaving people. Whoever denies the fact cannot be helped. But whoever believes what God has said can be freed from the fear of death through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who conquered the devil through death, the devil's own weapon, at the cross of Calvary, just as David had conquered Goliath.

Satan is a defeated enemy! That is why there are so many who are devoted to Jesus Christ, their Lord and Saviour. They have eternal life, and death for them means the step to heavenly glory, where thy will be with Christ, their Lord, for ever. They have believed God's Word: "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

Today's reading: Jeremiah 8:1-22 · Luke 21:12-28

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read...More
