Partition walls

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:7

Partition walls
We know about partition walls from open-plan offices. They separate colleagues' desks from one another so that people can work with as much concentration as possible. At home, in the garden or on the balcony, there are privacy screens to create some degree of separation. Who wants their neighbour to look at what is on their dinner plate?

Walls separate people from people but also people from God. Many have built a partition between themselves and the Creator. They try to keep Him at a distance and banish Him from their thoughts. They think they don't need God and consciously and deliberately want to live their lives without Him.

Our Creator knows that we cannot be truly happy this way. Moreover, we will be eternally lost on this path. That is why He calls us to repentance. He wants us to break down the wall - that is, to give up our resistance to Him and enter into a happy relationship with Him. That is why God has the good news of the gospel proclaimed and spread. It can be summarised in a few words:

The Son of God came to earth 2,000 years ago as a human being so that people could be reconciled with God through the Lord's death on the cross. Everyone who personally believes in Jesus Christ is not lost but saved. This salvation brings about a perfect reconciliation with God and leads to a happy life with Him.

Today's reading: Numbers 32:1-42 · Matthew 17:1-8

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
