Today's reading: Numbers 35:1-14

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Psalm 107:28-30

Dick had a violent character, which had caused his family many worries. He had one great passion: the sea. So he had taken a job on a fishing cutter and sailed the oceans for many years. His comrade, Tom, had attempted to speak to him about Jesus Christ on many occasions, but in vain.
One night, a hurricane blew up on the open sea. Dick and Tom were at the helm. There was only one thing they could do: make for the next port. However, a mighty wave swept over the ship, throwing Tom into the raging sea water.
In such unleashed elements of nature it was impossible to search for and find a human being. Dick could only hold on to the tiller with all his might and try to reach the shore in a desperate battle with the wind and water.
The hours he spent holding on in pitch darkness looking for a shimmer of light on the horizon seemed an age to him. In the icy cold, with the foam whipping against his face, he did something he had never done before: He cried out, "O God, help me!"
Later he reported, "Something remarkable happened .The tiller moved more easily, as if some firm hand were guiding the rudder. The ship was easier to keep on course. Then the storm eased, and we were in the shipping lane. I knew that God Himself had come to my aid."
Dick's life changed radically, He spoke readily of the helmsman, who had guided him into port.

. He learned that God can only use subjection of Himself, weakness in self, and dependence upon Him only.
However, there was only one person, spiritually speaking, who was a true Nazarite, and that was our Lord Jesus. He shows us that it is not a negative thing to be separated from the world but rather a...More

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
