“That’s your story, isn’t it!” (2)

But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
Luke 15:20

“That’s your story, isn’t it!” (2)
A secret struggle was going on in the young man’s soul. This story of the prodigal son reminded him of the home he had left behind.

In his mind he saw his parents before him and thought of their love with which they had surrounded him. Had it been only a “crazy idea” for which he had left the family home? He had seen how much his decision had hurt his parents. Nevertheless, he had decided against his parents, and also against God and for his “free” life. Yet he had not become truly happy as a result. Now he was trying to hide his sad situation and his inner loneliness and to offer entertainment to others in order to survive.

With the small New Testament in his hand, he sought out the Christian who had given it to him. From him he learned that the way back was also open to him: not only back to his parents, but also back to God. Now he was ready to confess his guilt to God and to accept Jesus Christ in faith as his Saviour.

He was like the prodigal son he had read about: God accepted him as he was and as he came; He didn’t reproach him; He forgave his guilt and gave him the assurance of forgiveness. Through Jesus Christ he found peace with God.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1

Today’s reading: Ezra 4:17-5:5 · Proverbs 5:15-23

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
