Thoughts on the Book of Acts (124)
James came to the condition that Paul's and Barnabas' preaching of the gospel agreed with the Word of God. Therefore, believers from the nations should not be impeded by the imposition of circumcision or obedience to the law as a condition of salvation. However, for the way of life of non-Jew Christians and for their social contacts with Jewish Christians, certain clarifications were needed. James mentioned the critical points, which referred to God's order for creation and His instructions to Noah, which were valid long before the Mosaic law(cf. . Eating the meat of strangled creatures or tasting blood would present a hindrance to fellowship and for meals taken by Jews and Gentile Christians together. On this issue, believers from the nations should be exhorted to note and adhere to the ancient instruction that God gave Noah.
