Thoughts on the Gospel of John (216)

Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish which you have just caught. Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. Jesus said to them, Come and eat breakfast. Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, Who are You? – knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish. This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.
John 21:10–14

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (216)
The disciples land an extraordinary haul! Let’s look at the details as well as the accompanying circumstances:

o The net is cast on the right side.
o There are 153 large fish in the net.
o Despite the quantity of fish, the net doesn’t tear.
o A new day begins with breakfast.
o None of the disciples asks Jesus who He is because they know.

Obviously, there is a symbolic meaning behind these details. Thus, the scene at the Sea of Tiberias becomes a prophetic sketch of the 1,000-year kingdom (the Millennium). When Jesus Christ establishes His kingdom here on earth, it will be a blessing for multitudes from all peoples and nations (Revelation 7:9–17). It will be a time of perfect rule and perfect revelation of God (12x12 + 3x3 = 153): “No more shall every man teach his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord’, for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more” (Jeremiah 31:34).

(to be continued next Sunday)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

TOUCH NOT

In today's Bible reading, while David and his men were away, the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, defeated the city and set it on fire, after which they took members of their families - wives, sons and daughters as captives. When they returned and saw the situation of Ziklag, David and his men were really distressed,...More
