The spreading of the gospel produces...

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, We will hear you again on this matter.
Acts 17:32

The spreading of the gospel produces various reactions:

o The evaders gracefully change the subject, addressing some societal issue to divert attention from a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.

o The tolerant ones do not generally deny the biblical message, as they allow different religious opinions to coexist. From their perspective, everyone should be saved in their own way.

o The resistors reject everything that comes from the Bible. They vehemently reject Christ and His grace for salvation.

o The polite ones try to decline the evangelistic flyer with a smile and a few friendly words.

o The mockers usually appear in a group. They make a mockery of the gospel and openly ridicule the messengers.

All these people have one thing in common: deep down, they want nothing to do with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.

But some people are open to the gospel. They are willing to read the Bible and get to know the Lord Jesus. If they accept Him as their personal Saviour, they become children of God.

How do you react when you hear about Jesus? Do you reject Him, or do you want to learn more about Him?

Today’s reading: Exodus 36:35-37:16 · Luke 17:1-10

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
