Seeing the Lord

Then the other disciples told him, We have seen the Lord.
John 20:25

Seeing the Lord
On the day of the resurrection, the Lord Jesus came to the disciples who were gathered in one place. He stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you” (John 20:19). Then He showed them His wounded hands and His side that had been pierced. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Thomas was absent from this encounter with the risen Christ. We don’t know why he wasn’t there. When the other disciples met him later, they informed him, “We have seen the Lord!” Is this also our experience? We have never seen the Lord Jesus with our physical eyes. Yet, through faith, He is a reality for us. When we gather to partake of the Lord’s supper and remember Him, He is in our midst, directing our thoughts to Himself. He shows us how much He suffered for us and how great His work of redemption is. He presents to us His unfathomable love that drove Him to go into death for the glorification of God and for our salvation.

As a result, we thank Him from the bottom of our hearts for His work on the cross. We praise Him for His grace that prompted Him to suffer and die for us. We worship the Lord Jesus, who is so great and glorious. Impressed by what He has done and by who He is, we go home saying, “We have seen the Lord”.

Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 10:1-19 · Revelation 2:1-7

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
