Peadar Gallagher

The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
2 Thessalonians 3:17-18

62 year-old Peadar Gallagher was taking his regular afternoon walk along the Irish Atlantic coast. As his eyes were always watchful, he soon spotted a bottle that the waves had washed up on the beach. Bottles on the beach are nothing unusual, as Mr Gallagher knew, yet he took the trouble to investigate further.
It was indeed a special bottle: it contained a letter! Participants in a husky-sledging expedition to the North Pole had thrown into the sea behind an icefloe three years previously, and the current had carried it to Ireland unharmed. The ageing hiker was fortunate: he received a reward of $5,000.
The journey of the apostle Paul's greeting to the Thessalonians has been much longer, taking about 1,600 years to reach us. Such venerable documents deserve special treatment. It is a miracle that this epistle and the other books of the Bible have survived all the untold dangers of history.
How often has the Bible been confiscated in times when Christians have been persecuted! Whole armies of hostile agents have been involved. Yet God has seen to it that these written testimonies have been preserved so that we can be guided by their eternally valid contents.
Wouldn't you like to experience the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that the apostle wished those who received the letter? In our day we bitterly need it!
Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 7:7-29

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
